| | discontent | ] | I have not taken the time to blog for a while, but today, i was inspired to by this inspirational piece from my favourite governmental newsletter online.
What an ingenious way to spice up some old news and my mundane college life:
'Hunt for JI fugitive Mas Selamat continues By Satish Cheney, Channel NewsAsia | Posted: 10 March 2008 1723 hrs
SINGAPORE: While the hunt for alleged Jemaah Islamiyah leader Mas Selamat Kastari continues, 40 illegal immigrants have been caught during the search efforts.'
Full Story (if you are interested): http://www.channelnewsasia.com/stories/singaporelocalnews/view/334011/1/.html
I guess you really can't have your cake and eat it too. One can always count on them to turn the dark clouds silver from their own linings. Stretching these linings a bit thin, don't you think? On the other hand, I would be so grateful if someone could interpret the real lesson that the mysterious opening line conveys. My superficial mind can only pick up the fact that forty > one so, perhaps, discovering the existence of forty illegal immigrants is more praiseworthy than catching only one runaway. Yes, that does make sense, just like releasing information of Selamat Hari Raya's clothes six days after he escaped, along with this whole prison break drama. Maybe he is an illusionist. Maybe the guards felt sorry for the limping man and let him out. Maybe God was on his side after all. Maybe that's it, because God > gurkhas just like 40 >1... Oops, sorry, I forgot we weren't supposed to speculate. I'll stop here and leave you with some entertainment news.

| Things I Want |
[Dec. 2nd, 2007|09:46 pm] |
Here are some of the things I want:
Fish bee hoon (I don't know where it is but Daddy does) Prata at Casuarina Curry or Al Ameen Cheese beef tofu hotplate at Cafe Mami Akashi at the Paragon (only because I had a dream of it but I guess I'll be having better Japanese food in Nipponland pretty soon) Sambal stingray at Newton Dim sum at Lei Garden Anything at Wonjo (NYC) A digital SLR Paprika :(:(:( A bubble bath Belts A new blush brush Warm(er) weather No snow/ice/cold things descending on head from sky Bangles/bracelets/other shiny types of things that jangle because rings on her fingers and bells on her toes, she will have music wherever she goes. Longer hair More Shanghainese summers More Hong Kong holidays with Minzz and co. Any type of holiday really To be in Nipponland NOW That woolly hat from Paul Smith that costs too much Beautiful footwear of all sorts Beautiful bags of all sorts Sweaters (since I can't have warm weather) To curl up in bed and watch movies/Mr. W. Miller/24 With hot chocolate (NOT coffee I'm already saturated thanks) Good music To be good at econ, and, most of all, NO FINAL EXAMS.
I'm off. |

I will resist his come-hither ways to make people like Wen Xian and Dhania happy.
Wow I really haven't updated in a long time. But whatever. I had a rather long and unproductive summer- which I mostly blame on that 2-month internship that paid and taught me just about nothing, but included a treasure hunt at the Chinese Gardens and a fishing contest at a fish farm, PLUS my first motorcycle ride :D
Trip to Bangkok: fun stuff. Great food, great company (GKS and Chanel, anyone?), and the most beautiful tuk-tuk in the world. Also, Jim Thompson and being within a 6 meter radius of the Princess of Thailand :):):) Too bad Daddy was mostly at work and I didn't get to see him much :( still cool though! It was a lovely trip.
Oh...update: Daddy moved. No more Bangkok Patio with the original most beautiful tuk-tuk in the world :( The new apartment only has one room and costs more, but I heard it's much nicer and in the shopping district. Still... :(
Lots more quality time back home with sisters, pappy, miscellaneous ilk and other crazies.
Then it was off to Hong Kong. Of course, I wasn't as well-prepared as I'd thought, misplacing my envelope of Hong Kong dollars somewhere in between sheets of stickers within the pages of a photo album, as well as tossing my make-up pouch into a pile of clothes and locating it only in the airport.
Apart from that little hitch, Hong Kong was wonderful. Char lot, Min-seok, Lan Kwai Fong: Lebanese hookah bars, ten minutes in Dragon Eye, Pauline....~~~. Also...the Peak (and the Tram!), neo prints, food, food, five schnauzers at Julien's-one called Isabelle (the prettiest, youngest and only one that didn't bark), 'The Bourne Ultimatum', Yung Kee's roasted goose and suckling pig, good food (sorry but Singapore still wins hands-down on that count for me), Tom, Paul, arcade games, bruises, Stars Avenue, Star Ferry, food, Jay, almost Macau (we nearly boarded the ferry there but was stopped because we didn't bring passports -.-),'The Secret' -___________-, dim sum, Boston-
no, wait, it was first San Francisco :D Seafood risotto and 'In n' Out' in 3 and a half hours, anyone? Still seems like a dream to me.
Ok, now, Boston. Nice weather, for once. I like my room in Carmy. Lots of familiar faces (from freshman year!), but no more Seo ho, Jae mo, Sang mo, Sang mok, Heena, Jae eun :( m well. My room is (almost) all set up now. This is a major Point of Pride pour moi.
Now to wash the crumpled pile of sheets lying on my bed. Ok, maybe later.
I may even post pictures later if I have the time to- ok, if I get round to doing it.
Byeee.
p.s. I miss you guys very much :( and Pappy :(:(:( |
